Fiber has fascinated me since I first learned to sew as a small child at my mother’s knee. Creating objects with fiber is an essential part of my life and I love the planning as much as the process. My extensive background in garment design and construction is very helpful when solving technical or structural issues to create just the look I envision. I constantly seek new techniques to fulfill my artistic visions and enjoy combining painting, embroidery, beading and other surface embellishments. At this time I am focused on making fiber scuptures with wire armatures and embellished fiber collages, many inspired by my own photographs.

I completed a degree in textiles and applied design as well as many courses over the years for techniques in various media. Work experience includes managing a small advertising agency and serving as Executive Director of Springwater Workshop, a nonprofit school which offers a year-round selection of classes in weaving, surface design and other fiber arts as well as an extensive program of outreach and demonstrations of traditional fiber arts. I also developed an outdoor fine art and craft festival in Purcellville, VA, and served as show director for three years before moving to New Hampshire. For several years I exhibited and sold my work in the Potomac Craftsmen Gallery in the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA, serving as Vice Chair and on the jury committee.
