Sasha Wolfe

My life is a series of creative adventures and I explore many mediums as colors, textures, and patterns fascinate me. I am a writer and poet having published three books of poetry, the latest of which, “My Life Isn’t Flowers,” also includes pictures of my photographs, paintings, and charcoal drawings.

Turning away from traditional oil painting, acrylic is used on slate. The 1990’s found me experimenting in multi-media combos; part oil on canvas, then using findings from nature and any small tidbits that catch my fancy. I ask myself, “What is it and how can it be used in an art project?”

My main focus, however, is in photography and charcoal landscape drawing.

In photography, pictures are kept true and settings are never arranged. I love getting close to note the detail. I am particularly intrigued by old barns, architecture, lines and angles, flowers, and wildlife. The only photo shop work is in cropping and/or adjusting light and contrast. There is delight when the print shows a detail that my eye did not previously notice.

Charcoal landscape drawing is a surprisingly enjoyable venue for me as I love color. The black and white and shades in-between lend a mystique and peacefulness to the pictures. Never having the patience for fine detail work, the challenge is in creating an illusion of detail.
